A Sunday Drive, Not

Long ago people used to go to church on Sunday morning, and then go their parent’s house for Sunday dinner, and then everyone would pile into the car and go for a Sunday drive. We used to drive around the new subdivisions being built in the area. We would walk through the open houses and look at the floorplans and new features being built in the new homes. Sometimes we would drive through the more upscale neighborhoods and if there was an open house being hosted we would walk through and act like we were interested in moving. But we really just wanted to see what cool things they had in their houses.

Those days are sure long gone for most Americans. Not sure why no one does the Sunday dinner anymore, but I’m pretty sure the Sunday drive stopped happening because of the huge increase in the cost of gasoline.

Today was the first nice sunny day of weather we’ve had in a long grey and gloomy winter. I REALLY wanted to go for a drive, but gasoline is over $3.00 a gallon now, so it just isn’t prudent to spend that much money driving around the countryside. I miss that, though.
