Yahoo cuts 1000 jobs

Yahoos profits drop!! I am sure when the Google guys hear this news they are going to smile real BIG. Yahoo is cutting 1,000 jobs in order to better invest in its future but people like me think it is because the once big search giant has fallen way behind on profits and on its core search business which is taken over by spam. Many things need to change over at Yahoo such as the Games platform and better search results. We will see if the move costs Yahoo or makes money for Yahoo over the coming months but I think this is the beginning of the end for the search giant.

Album and cassette recorder

If your like me, then you probably have a lot of records and cassettes tapes from way back in the day that are just siting somewhere collecting dust because your not able to play them in your CD player. Well my son got me this thing called called an LP Saver that not only plays my old records and cassette tapes but also records the albums and cassettes onto a CD. For the last couple of hours I have been using it to transfer my record collection over to CD and have not had any problems with it what so ever. The music sounds crystal clear on my CD player and BOSE sound system. The LP Saver looks very cool, almost retro like and has everything contained inside of it you will need to record all your favorite old records and cassettes. If you know of someone that has a stash of old records or cassette tapes laying around this would be the perfect gift for them whether its for a Birthday or Christmas gift it is sure to bring a smile on who ever face receives it. I know that I will be using this very cool machine to record my record albums and old cassettes for the next couple of weeks at least with the amount of records I have stored in the basement but I am looking forward to hearing all the songs of yesterday, again today.

A new surface

Came across a Microsoft website the other day called Microsoft Surface which does a lot of cool things including having a touch screen. Allowing for just about unlimited business applications this new computer is sure to be seen just about everywhere in America. Some of the features the videos on the website show it being able to compare call phones side by side on the surface and while a couple eats at a restaurant and order food from the surface which is able to recognize drinks once put to it. Going to be one of this years hottest inventions and if you own a brick and mortar business your going to want a couple fo these.

I.D. security

LifeLock® announced that they have secured $25 million in Series C funding led by the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. LifeLock® CEO Todd Davis said “We will use these funds as we support our remarkable growth and as we continue to look for ways to reach and educate the millions of Americans that are unaware of the threat posed by identity thieves. We would like to thank Goldman Sachs for their investment in us,”

For those of you who do not know what lifelock is or what it can do for you listen up. LifeLock was founded in 2005 by professionals in the banking, payment, credit and security industries. Located in a secure facility in Tempe, Arizona, LifeLock has become one of the fastest growing companies in the entire State of Arizona. What LifeLock does is, enables “locks” by setting and automatically renewing fraud alerts with the major credit bureaus, removing member names from pre-approved credit card offers and junk mail lists and a new service just recently launched called WalletLock which works to cancel and replace all documents and personal identifying information inside a wallet if it is lost or stolen all the services are backed by a $1 million service guarantee. A really great service that is sure to save a lot of headaches for people. And when the company goes public I would love to buy a lot of shares because as more and more people fall victim to identity theft every year more and more people will use this service.

The Livescribe SmartPen

This cool gadget is a pen and a computer all in one. With this pen, when your writings it also records audio so whenever you go back threw your note is plays the audio at the same time your reading the notes. A really cool idea and is worth getting for people who take a lot of notes like college students or working writing professionals. I guess if the police got used this pen when taking statements it might help fight crime to. A lot of great uses for the Livescribe Smartpen and I am looking forward to getting my hands on at least one of these pens when they hit the market early this year.
