Peep Contests
This year two major daily newspaper publications held contests for readers to create a diorama using marshmallow peeps. Contestants built their dioramas and sent in photos for judging.
At the Washngton Post, their second annual peeps contest drew over 800 entries. Staffers reviewed all the photos and narrowed the field down to 32. Then, during a slide show of the top 32, staffers assigned a rating of 0-5 to each photo. Compiling those results determined the top 5, which resulted in the winner, “The Tomb of King Peepankhamun,” by Laura Sillers.
The Chicago Tribune ran their contest a little differently but had an impressive 235 entries. The imagination of the people who submitted dioramas was vast and noteworthy. I’m looking forward to next year’s contests - maybe I will enter one.
