Buying a Used Car
When my daughter-in-law was in desperate need of a car, we agreed to help her out. Together we hunted for a decent used car and I was stupid enough to agree to co-sign her loan from the Buy-Here, Pay-Here lot that had the car she wanted. Of course, after the first three payments she started having money trouble and then car trouble and then boyfriend trouble and on and on. Needless to say, I’ll NEVER do anything that generous again.
The hardest part of that whole debacle was finding a decent used car to begin with. We drove up and down the main streets through the bad neighborhoods where all the used car lots have claimed their tiny parking lots. We looked in the newspaper at the classifieds and even picked up the weekly autos for sale by owner magazine. It would have been so much easier if we could have just gone online and found the site, “Buy Your Car.”
This website has different categories to help you get started with your search for the perfect auto:
- New Cars
- Used Cars
- Contract Hire Cars
When you go to the used cars tab, they let you search by make and model, or by price range, or even by distance from your home or other address. Most of the listings have a photo of the car and the asking price. When I looked this morning, there were over 17,000 cars listed!
When you have a good idea of the car you want, this site has other helpful information, such as car reviews, links to arrange for car loans and for car insurance. This is a site worth bookmarking for later reference when ready to buy a car – new or used!
