Divorce Jokes

Anyone who has been through a bitter divorce (is there really any other kind?) will appreciate this joke:

Why is divorce so expensive?

Because it is worth it!

And here’s a new one, a sign of the times with the huge drop in the stock market these past few weeks. Wall Street’s “Joke of the Week”

This market crash is worse than a divorce. I have lost over half my net worth and I still have my wife!

Flashback Charts

Found a cool link on another blog that sounded like fun, called Flashback Charts. Take any date, like your birthday, and click through the charts of month and day, then select the year to find the #1 song according the Billboard Charts.

The number one song on my birthday is one I cannot recall ever hearing! LOL

For fun, I checked out some other number one hits on special days, like when I got married and when each of my kids were born. Hope you have fun finding some great song memories, too.

Peep Contests

This year two major daily newspaper publications held contests for readers to create a diorama using marshmallow peeps. Contestants built their dioramas and sent in photos for judging.

At the Washngton Post, their second annual peeps contest drew over 800 entries. Staffers reviewed all the photos and narrowed the field down to 32. Then, during a slide show of the top 32, staffers assigned a rating of 0-5 to each photo. Compiling those results determined the top 5, which resulted in the winner, “The Tomb of King Peepankhamun,” by Laura Sillers.

The Chicago Tribune ran their contest a little differently but had an impressive 235 entries.  The imagination of the people who submitted dioramas was vast and noteworthy. I’m looking forward to next year’s contests – maybe I will enter one.

Foodie

As much as I love to eat really good food, I never had any formal training in the kitchen. I just learned what my mother showed me as I was growing up, and then after I moved out I taught myself how to read cook books and try new recipes.

Now I surf the internet for new recipe and menu ideas. I found a new site called www.foodconnect.com and I love the idea of sharing my recipes with other people who are posting their favorite recipes to this site. This site has more than just recipes. There is a whole section on wine, and one on other drinks, and a section of menus.

I looked through some of their cookie recipes tonight. I love to bake and I think cookies are easier to keep around and share than a cake or a pie. I think I’ll try their recipe for peanut butter cookies and make enough extra to take some to work with me on Monday.

Sorry – This Poster Cracks Me Up

I forget who sent this to me in an email recently. But whoever it was – thank you for the laugh!

Slap Em Silly

It reminds me of what my former mother-in-law would say about people who annoyed her, and if she thought she could, she would.
